David Gallardo is a film director born in Brooklyn. He graduated from City College where he was able to gain experience in cinematography, film studies and screenplay writing. During his time in college, Gallardo became president of the digital video club, which gave him the opportunity to Direct and edit underground music videos as well as completing a CBS boot camp program in which he edited a piece titled “Lost in the Shadows”.
Gallardo’s biggest accomplishment in school occurred in 2001, when he edited and directed a 9/11 based documentary titled “Out of the Darkness”. The documentary was used to raise over 1.5 million dollars to help B.M.C.C. after losing a school building (Fiterman Hall) during the 9/11 attacks.
Soon after, he began directing and editing a Latino based magazine show called Viva America for 3 seasons that air on BET jazz. Gallardo also took part as cinematographer, director and editor on an array of projects. He created his production company AUGUST THIRD MEDIA, which has participated in production of multiple pilots, films, music videos and documentary’s, one of which won a T.V. Emmy “Pasos Latinos”. He is currently working on a pilot television show as well as two feature documentaries.
