Loren Herbert

Loren Herbert was born and raised in New York City. The first film Loren ever saw was DIE HARD - which cemented his love for action movies. Driven to have a career making these types of films, Loren went on to study at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (Class of 2012), where he made his first go at the action genre with his thesis film OPERATIVE –which was nominated for Best Dramatic Short at the Central Florida Film Festival.

After working as a production assistant on SHERLOCK HOLMES, COP OUT, and WINTER'S TALE, as well as a director’s assistant to James Toback on SEDUCED AND ABANDONED, Loren came to AFI with a mission to stand out as an action-film director while honing his storytelling skills. His AFI thesis film RESURGENT is set to premiere at the Action On Film Festival.

With a love for action and horror, Loren hopes to follow in the footsteps of John Woo, Tony Scott, Sam Raimi and John Carpenter – with a focus on becoming a notorious genre filmmaker. Whether it be blood, guts, bullets or martial arts, Loren’s goal is to create stories that bring all these dazzling elements together with a powerful narrative.
